Summer Saturday Ritual

by Liz Dowling

A summer Saturday morning ritual, as long as I can remember (above photo, circa 1995), is heading down to the Block Island Farmer’s Market.

If we haven’t had breakfast yet, we head right to Kerri Gaffett’s coffee and…

the fabulous scone lady!

Next stop is dinner provisions. Succotash Farm has all the veggies you would want, new potatoes, flowers….

All of the ingredients needed for a fresh, delicious dinner.

Sun Farm oyster truck is next for delicious Saturday night appetizers!

Corn relish will be amazing with our Block Island swordfish for dinner!

Local honey from Littlefield Bee Farm.

Homemade olive oil and vinegar for our salad… yum.

Adorable Block Island coasters.

Local ceramic bowls for our salad by @emilymaryepottery.

Beautiful Mary MacGill jewelry. She has a studio on Block Island in the summer and also in Hudson Valley, New York. I would love anything from here Tim!!!!

These two have played music here for as long as I can remember. So cute!

Fresh lemonade for our walk home. We love our Saturday morning ritual. I hope you also have a farmer’s market you love and support this summer.

Rhino is not ready to go home yet.

Hope everyone is having a wonderful summer!

Thank you for the beautiful candle you sent to me! I love it and it smells so wonderful. I will light it in memory of my sweet dog Kali who we lost recently to cancer.
