I woke up in 2019 in one of my favorite places with some of my favorite people. Â I can’t think of better karma to start the New Year!
The topic of resolutions came up and we went around the table to reveal what we were all thinking for 2019. Â I am horrible at resolutions. Â Typically, mine are huge and sweeping. Â Another words, completely unattainable.
This year, I have two resolutions. Â The first one is to write down (in an old-fashioned journal, not on my phone) three things I am grateful for each day. Â If I forget for a day or more, not to throw my hands in the air and abandon the resolution completely, which is what I usually do.
The second category is bigger….. I want to get a job AND completely clean out the attic/basement/garage. Â I am already exhausted thinking about this. Â BUT, here is the strategy ~
I’m going to spend a dedicated 5 hours a week on one or the other. Â Doesn’t matter how I divide the time, as long as I have logged in a total of 5 focused hours on these two projects.
Â
I watched one episode of Tidying up with Marie Kondo on Netflix and she motivated me to get going. Â She advises viewers to dump everything they want to organize into the middle of the room and attack it that way. Â Sadly, our attic already looks like I dumped everything into the middle of the room without the second part….
Maybe I will hire TaskRabbit now and dedicate all of my time to finding a job!
Ok, enough of resolutions. Â Back to our trip. Â We went to our favorite island of Nevis to celebrate New Year’s Eve. Â Stayed at Nisbet Plantation Beach Club – fab.
There was one rainy day, so we traveled over to Golden Rock for lunch, which is a very cool boutique hotel. Â All of the pictures with this great orange/red color (like door above) are taken at Golden Rock. Â New York artists bought the hotel and completely renovated it. Â Now it is teeming with famous guests and chic people.
Â
Our trip was mellow – we played lots of cards (hearts), lounged in the sun, met old friends from Block Island for drinks, read real live books and danced like crazy people a few times.
Â
Prediction – 2019 is going to be amazing.
Starting with resolution #1: I am grateful for this wonderful trip, our great friends that were with us and positive vibes for 2019.
Â
and…. kicking off the New Year in such a pretty place.
I hope everyone had a wonderful New Year’s Eve and a great start to 2019!
