The X-Stool

January 20, 2014

I love a fabulous x-stool.  Perfect for extra seating, a tray of filled champagne glasses, your dog.  Elegant sitting side by side under a parsons table.  Small enough to tuck into a corner.  I was determined to get two x-stools for my new living room.  But the prices I was quoted, anywhere from $600 to $850 a stool, were a lot higher than I wanted to pay.

I was looking for a side table online when I was redirected to the Target website and saw these x-stools on sale for $39.99.  Reduced from $59.99.  What?  What was I missing here?  Ok, the brown velvet was not very attractive, but nothing a yard of fabric couldn’t fix.  I ordered two of them immediately.

I loved this pink geometric that I grabbed on a fabric hunt, but it was expensive, so one yard of it for the x-stools was the perfect use.  When all was said and done, I was able to get two x-stools for about $300, including the fabric and labor.

The target x-stools is still one of my favorite finds. Could not believe they were each under $40! Thank you for the great comments Chris 🙂

I have loved design ever since I painted my bedroom walls high-gloss lime green in the fourth grade. A lifelong hobby, mixing low cost items with a few pricier pieces thrown in, has become The Wry Home. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn’t!
