The Palm Beaches

by Liz Dowling

My mom is dipping her toe into the Florida seasonal migration concept.  She landed in West Palm Beach for a few weeks this winter and I thought it would be best if I helped her get acclimated.

We passed on the beach the first day and started our tour of the area on Northwood Road in West Palm Beach at the fabulous store Circa Who.

Circa Who is a trendy resale shop chock full of gorgeous vintage furniture.  The owner, Tracy DeRamus, has an incredible eye.  Think Hollywood meets vintage Palm Beach.

I bought a mirror online for my daughter’s room from her in January, but going to the store is fantastic.

Wander down the street and have lunch at Bistro Bistro Bakery.  An authentic French bistro with quiche to die for.

Next stop, South Dixie Highway to all of the antique and consignment shops.  Mecox Gardens, Kofski Estate Sales, City Girl Clothes Consignment and the new Hive Home & Garden.  Rest your weary feet at Bette and Maxwells for an iced tea or some good people watching.

We breezed through the beautiful Norton Museum after shopping.  Then coffee at the cool swedish coffee shop, Johan’s Joe.

We attacked Palm Beach the next day.  Worth Avenue and then The Breakers for a delicious cocktail.

There are a lot of great choices for dinner in the area.  We stuck to the West Palm Beach side during my stay.  Grato, Table 26, The Kitchen and Pastiche were on our to do list.

My last day was a beautiful beach day.  And guess what we did?  Sat on the beach and nothing else!

I think our family may have stayed at the Breakers. We stayed at many hotels like that.
Ask Tim.

Just last night for spring break and had fabulous dinner at table 26. Too funny to read about all these places we passed in the dark last night! Thanks for posting the shopping ideas!
