Some fun new fabrics have launched this fall.
I know its Black Friday and nobody is going to read this. Christmas is kicking fall to the curb today. Pumpkins and mums are going in the trash. I still have dishes from Thanksgiving, but am about to have my first holiday shopping anxiety attack…
Before I start obsessively compiling my Christmas list, I have to take a small pause. Fall was spectacular this year.
Here is a quick reflection on my favorite season.
My daughter is a December baby, but we threw her an early 21st birthday party at Thanksgiving. I used fall colors on her personalized M&M’s.
I am tempted to hit the gas and go get the wreath for my door today… But I can’t do it yet. I want to hang out with my daughters before they go back to college. Catch up on some new movies. Take long walks to work off yesterday. That’s about it!

The perfect fall day = chilly temperatures and a brilliant blue sky.
That is exactly what we had on Block Island this weekend. Morning temps in the mid-30s, warming to the mid-50s in the afternoon.
The perfect walking weather.
We walked all over the island, enjoying no crowds and the stunning October scenery.
The colors were beautiful. Design inspiration everywhere.
Pumpkins on stone walls. On porches.
A completely different feel from summer.
We ate decadent lobster mac and cheese at Winfield’s and fresh halibut at Eli’s.
The Empire movie theatre was showing The Martian and we almost went….
But, after an amazing dinner, we opted for an evening in.
At night, the stars were unbelievable. Every constellation was visible.
It was a fabulous weekend. Something we will do again, very soon!

Nothing says fall like the color orange AND a Pumpkin Spice Latte. As soon as I see that sign go up in Starbucks, even if its an 80 degree day and I’m wearing shorts, I jump up and down in my flip flops and declare that fall has officially started.
According to the calendar, fall did start this week. The weather channel has a 40 something degree morning on the horizon and I am scrounging around trying to find a sweater or an old fleece before I have to go into the attic and do the dreaded season switch. Does anyone else still pack away their fall/winter clothes to make room for their spring/summer stuff or am I the only one still torturing myself?
I am a fall baby, so I love this time of year. The cool weather, pumpkins, leaves, Halloween and ORANGE is everywhere you look. We have the added bonus of college applications this fall in our household, so I am taking a deep breath before I start drinking about 20 Pumpkin Spice Lattes a day to pause for L’orange.
