Dreaming of Green

P1060378
Winter must really have its hooks in me.  Every fabric I pick up lately is the color of water, grass or dirt.

P1060411
The monochromatic “snow” landscape is taking its toll.  I am craving earth tones.

P1060368
Here are two beautiful Duralee fabrics, the one on the left designed by Eileen Kathryn Boyd called “Seaglass.”

P1060374
A client of mine is using both of these in her living room.   Tilton Fenwick on the left and Candice Olson on the right.  Love her choices.

P1060354
Basic, but I love the texture in these two fabrics.  “Sea Salt” by B. Berger and a soft corduroy by Kravet.

P1060388
Two fabrics that remind me of the Caribbean.  Take me away!

P1060356
Jonathan Adler paired with a plum ultrasuede, yum.

We (finally) did have a sunny day to balance out the cold and snow.

P1060363
Eileen Kathryn Boyd zebra in “Pool” with a Thibault herringbone.  Sea and sand.

P1060348
More green and brown!  I normally gravitate to bold color.  I think I need a vacation.  A tan cotton rattan on the left and a China Seas fretwork on the right.

P1060401
Love these colors AND I am not seeing them out my window!

P1060391 P1060386
Patterns.

P1060405
A soft B. Berger fabric on the left with an aqua indoor/outdoor floral.

P1060395
Earth tones in an Ikat pattern by Quadrille, paired with a ultrasuede called “Fog.”  I like using ultrasuede because it is soft, easy to clean and comes in fabulous colors.

P1060344
Brown is looking pretty darn good these days!

P1060384
Tan with blue.

P1060383
A little orange snuck into the mix in a gorgeous Thibaut fabric.

P1060370
I am having a hard time moving away from this color scheme.

P1060389
And again.

P1060359 P1060378 P1060391
I am headed to Atlanta this week and the weather looks like a balmy 40 degrees with rain.  I’ll take it!

Summer Fabric Redux

P1040310

I am amazed that the first week of August is over.  Soon I will be drowning in college shopping and begging the nurse at the pediatrician’s office to let my youngest in for her annual back-to-school physical that I forgot to schedule.

P1040171

I did do a few constructive things this summer.  In my Summer Fabrics post this June (see here), I found some bright and beachy fabrics that I loved and used ~

P1040315

I recovered two x-stools from Target, in my FAVE Stoheim “Canton” coral and blue fabric.

P1040326 P1040307

And made a beach bathroom curtain out of it too.

P1040225

I have been in a huge orange phase.  Using it everywhere!

P1040236 P1030790

I made pillows in an orange Duralee stripe and recovered chairs in a Jonathan Adler orange solid.

IMG_1872

I spruced up old parsons chairs with an orange ultra suede, then backed them with a Duralee print.

P1040216 P1030778

I added new pillows to a Fire Island home in a Robert Allen bathing suit pattern and an orange chevron stripe.

P1040202

A navy crab fabric with…

P1040226

a wide yellow and white stripe…

P1040302

became eight new pillows for a beach cottage.

P1040213

Love pink.

P1030122

I recovered two slipper chairs with this Kravet pink paisley,

P1030153

and used a pink geometric on two x-stools for additional seating in a living room.

P1040198

This blue and white textured chevron stripe

looks adorable on the back of two couches.

P1040181

A cream herringbone solid became

P1040870

the perfect roman shade with a beautiful Samuels & Sons turquoise ribbon trim.

P1040232

A beachy Lily Pulitzer floral (right) and a Thom Filicia dot pattern were PERFECT for

P1030223

new pillows in a cozy blue and orange office.

P1030150

The rest of August = relax.

Summer Fabrics

P1040216

A recent trip (see here) inspired me to pull together colorful fabrics to use for some of my summer redesign projects.

LOVE this Stroheim "Canton" pattern. Comes in four colors.

LOVE this Stroheim “Canton” pattern. Comes in four colors

Using the rainbow of shades ~ turquoise, blue, sand, orange, pink, coral, yellow ~ from the Turks and Caicos was all I needed to start my hunt!

Duralee and Jonathan Adler

Not to be cheesy, but I wanted to find fabrics with BEACHY icons….. shells, crabs, starfish, bathing suits, nautical stripes.

P1040198

I was NOT disappointed in my search.

Duralee Yellow!

Duralee, Stroheim, Kravet, Lilly Pulitzer, Jonathan Adler, Thom Filicia and Robert Allen all delivered in spades on the fabric front.  Most of these fabrics are very reasonably priced.  The few that are more expensive can just be used as accents in a room.

P1040213

Love these two bright pink fabrics from Kravet.  The same color as a beach rose in Turks.

P1040225

Sunsets and windsurfer sails inspired this group of orange fabrics.

P1040188

Shades of blue were everywhere.  Turquoise water…

P1040232

Clear blue skies.

P1040192

You can’t do a beach theme without a little navy and white!

P1040202

Mixing lots of stripes with patterns.  I might need to be reigned in a little.

P1040200 P1040207

I could go crazy in my house with all of these fabrics, but my husband has his big eyeballs on me, so I think I will set aside the majority for clients (I qualify as a client?).  I am doing adorable beach window treatments with the coral Stroheim “Canton” fabric.  Big oversized pillows for a screen porch in the navy Duralee crab and yellow/white stripe.  The turquoise shell is going on two blond x-stools for a beach house living room.  Let me know if you want any information on the fabrics featured here!
