ICFF

May 28, 2015

ICFF is the International Contemporary Furniture Fair that is held at the Jacob Javits Center in NYC every spring.

P1070004
It features what’s next in contemporary design, luxury interiors and high end furniture.

P1070066
Amazing styles by international furniture brands and emerging new talent highlight unique furnishings, seating, wall covering, lighting, accessories, outdoor furniture and more.

P1070078
Architects, interior designers and developers can find custom designs and concepts here that they cannot find anywhere else.

P1070058
ICFF Talks is a series of free presentations featuring panels of industry leaders discussing, new introductions, materials and trends in the interior design world.  Chef Daniel Boulud and designer Jeffrey Beers talked about their long collaboration that resulted in restaurants including db Moderne and db Brasserie.  How cool is that?

P1070037
ICFF Studio is a forum where emerging designers compete with peers by submitting market ready, producible concepts with the goal of being chosen as one of the finalists that will be profiled to 32,000 professionals attending ICFF.

P1070068  P1070074
It’s inspirational to walk through ICFF Studio and see all of the incredibly creative pieces by these new designers.

P1070021
ICFF also convenes the industry’s top editors and invites them to scout the floor of the Javits Center to choose the best of the best of the year’s design crop.  That would be a hard job…

P1070023  P1070036
The show opened on Saturday, May 16th and ran through May 19th.  I wandered over (finally) on Monday and wished I had gone a lot earlier.  So much to see.

P1070089
There is a big launch party the night before ICFF opens that I missed because I was laser focused on seeing the opening of “Pitch Perfect 2.”  And the launch party was at MOMA….  I don’t think I will be doing THAT again!

Miss Print Wallpaper.  Hand drawn illustrations, made in the UK.

I got there first thing Monday morning and managed to cover the two expansive floors of the show.

More than 24 countries are represented at ICFF.

P1070029
There is so much to see, I didn’t know where to look!  I left with a big stack of business cards.

Textured wall coverings were everywhere.  Felt, wood (above left), plastic.  A huge trend.

P1070077 P1070032

P1070076 P1070075
How fun would it be to have a lime green textured wall!

The visual feast goes on and on.

I will definitely be attending ICFF next year and, this time, I will put the launch party date in my calendar with a black Sharpie!

I have loved design ever since I painted my bedroom walls high-gloss lime green in the fourth grade. A lifelong hobby, mixing low cost items with a few pricier pieces thrown in, has become The Wry Home. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn’t!
