I love the idea of a special Christmas Cocktail. Roaring fire, sparkly dress, something other than wine in my hand.
But, beating eggs and grating nutmeg for homemade eggnog… I don’t think so. The last minute pinch of Christmas is quick to dash the idea of making a multi-ingredient cocktail for one guest. So I have pulled together six “cheater” cocktail ideas that are both festive and EASY!
My husband is obsessed with Whiskey Sours. We never drink them, but he talks about them like we hang around with one in our hand every night.
In honor of his obsession, this is one of my Christmas Cocktail picks. Bar-Tender’s whiskey sour mix is YUM. Put whisky, water and the sour mix in a shaker with lots of ice. Shake well.
Add maraschino cherries and orange slices.
Delicious.
There is nothing like Champagne at Christmas. Dress it up with raspberries for holiday color.
Add a tablespoon of creme de cassis or cranberry juice to turn it a festive pink.
I might have to sample this one….
Classic Martini.
3/4 cup of Gin or Vodka. 2 teaspoons of dry vermouth. Ice. Shake well. Add olives.
Voila.
Easy and elegant.
The Cosmopolitan is next. I have absolutely no idea what goes into one, and thanks to my neighbors, I never need to know!
True Cocktails has a delicious, zero-calorie Cosmo mix. You will need one packet of True Cocktails Cosmo, vodka, water and ice. Shake well (True Cocktails even supplies you with a baby shaker!) and pour.
“Sex and the City” would be so proud.
Eggnog is my drink of choice while watching “Its a Wonderful Life.” I only have enough time during the commercials to refresh, so no homemade eggnog for me.
Hood makes a delightful eggnog and that works just fine for me. Add some “good rum” (to quote Ina) and pour over ice.
Sprinkle with nutmeg and, if you have any whipped cream lying around, throw it on top.
What else says HOLIDAY like a high calorie cream drink to end the night?
Pour Baileys over ice, drink it straight up or…
Add some vodka and make a Baileys Martini!
I hope all of you have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. I am taking two weeks off to spend with my family and enjoy the end of the season. I will see you in 2016!

Freeze pomegranate seeds add to any clear drink like a gin and tonic
Victoria makes a Tito’s Pellegrino and lime juice drink
(you can even scatter between ice cubes in a 7-up or Fizzy water of your choice)
The awesome thing is the seeds don’t add flavor just color
We have a pomegranate tree we pick from but buying the seeds is sooooo much easier
This sounds amazing, thank you Cal Gal!
Wonderful- one of each please, although anything with Bailey’s might make it two!

Tim must be reminiscing about all the Sour Hours spent at The Jug! Love these drink suggestions for the holidays, thanks!
Carol, this must be where Tim got the taste for whiskey sours. We are toasting with one on Christmas Eve. Merry Christmas!
Love me some whiskey sours – my Dad used to make them in a thermos and we’d take them to RFK stadium for Redskin games! They truly are most festive (and de-lish 🙂
Jenny, wish I could whip you up one in good old Charlotte! Hope you are well and MERRY CHRISTMS ~ xo
Carol Malach stole my comment. And they were only 50 cents then.
