Are $19.99 Chairs Comfortable?

by Liz Dowling

I feel like I am replacing our outdoor furniture on Block Island way too often. This year, six of our dining chairs kicked the bucket.

Like our mattress for the guest room, there was a backorder on outdoor dining chairs this spring. I ordered six new chairs in mid-May. They were delayed, then stuck in a warehouse, then completely lost. I ordered some from another company and had a similar problem with a long backorder, basically getting them to us in time for Halloween. Above is our sad outdoor table for two.

I went back to Google images to basically find anything that would get us through the summer. I landed on a website called restaurantfurniture4less.com. I found chairs on sale for $19.99 each and they guaranteed delivery in three days. Fine!

They came in boxes of 4, so I just got one set. Outside dinner for six seems just about right for a Covid summer.

I hoped they would compliment the table and two chairs I already had.

Not bad!

They look ok at the table too. So, the big question is, are they even remotely comfortable?

Yes. The first night we had dinner with friends outside, I completely forgot we had new chairs and was fine the whole evening. Since I know these chairs probably won’t last multiple summers anyway, they are “good enough” for this year.

There are a lot of pretty cute outdoor dining choices on restaurantfurniture4less.com, so if you are in need of some new outdoor stuff, take a look.

A new summer candle for your outdoor dining too! It smells like the ocean, sand, suntan lotion and fresh air all wrapped into one. The scent will transport you right to the beach!

My bet is that these chairs will last forever! I did a similar thing with some counter chairs from Pier One – thought they were placeholders until I found better ones…well, 15 years later….. haha! Great article. Love reading your blog.
